Javier Bardem, who proved himself to be the best Bond Villain we have had in awhile in ‘Skyfall‘ is to continue his trade in villainy in the next ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ film with Johnny Depp.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tale,’ which will begin production in Australia next year.
According to The Wrap, Bardem has been approached to play Captain Brand, a ghost out for revenge against Sparrow, who he blames for his brother’s murder.
Initial reports has linked Christoph Waltz to the role, but the Skyfall star is now said to hold the offer. His wife Penelope Cruz starred in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.’
The uber eccentric, but much loved Geoffrey Rush has been tipped to reprise his role as Barbossa, while new characters could reportedly include a British soldier and a young girl Rush is protecting.
Jerry Bruckheimer will produce Pirates of the Caribbean 5, which is currently scheduled for release on July 7, 2017.
