Jane Goldman, who has worked on some great comic book movie projects in recent years is now penning a script for a ‘Fables’ movie based on the wonderful comic book series, which was devised by Bill Willingham.
As fans will know Goldman, who is married to television chat show host Jonathan Ross made a name for herself for the work she did with Matthew Vaughn on Kick – Ass and X-Men: First Class.
Producer David Heyman revealed Jane Goldman as the screenwriter via a recent interview he did with Spinoff.
For those of you that do not read comics. ‘Fables’, which was created by Bill Willingham and Mark Buckingham was released through the DC Comics imprint Vertigo and is a modern take on many of the classic Grimm Fairy tales, which sees some of the most iconic fairy tale characters living in Fabletown, which is a made up suburb in New York.
“Nik Arcel… did a draft, and now he’s supervising Jane, who’s doing a draft.”
Heyman admitted that “all these things always take longer than you want”.
“I’m drawn to stories about outsiders,” he said of choosing Fables to adapt. “They’re people who are all separate, and how they ultimately have to form the community in order to survive.
“I just think the characters are so vivid.”
The long-running Fables comic is set to conclude in issue #150 this spring.
