James Frain’s Birthday Provides 1st Star Trek Discovery Cast Photo

Thanks to the actor who plays Sarek's birthday celebration, we can see the first cast photo of Discovery together.

Interestingly, the upcoming CBS All Access related Star Trek: Discovery television series has seen a recent amount of production activity in Toronto Canada, and during filming of the much anticipated Trek show, a good part of the show’s cast went out to celebrate actor James Frain’s birthday.

Luckily, fellow Discovery actor Chris Obi (T’Kuvma), posted the fun filled cast photo to his Instagram account, and said the following, “We are Star Trek family! Celebrating birthday of James Frain.

The photo itself is actually the first almost complete group photo of the Discovery cast in which can be see Jason Isaacs (the U.S.S. Discovery’s Capt. Lorca), Michelle Yeoh (the U.S.S. Shenzhou’s Capt. Georgiou), Chris Obi (T’Kuvma), Sonequa Martin-Green (Lt. Commander Rainsford), Doug Jones (Lt. Saru), James Frain (Sarek), and Shazad Latif (Kol).

Star Trek Discovery was created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman with CBS Television Studios confirming that the show’s release date has been pushed back to the summer of 2017, with no official release date saying, “Production on Star Trek: Discovery begins next week. We love the cast, the scripts and are excited about the world the producers have created. This is an ambitious project; we will be flexible on a launch date if it’s best for the show. We’ve said from the beginning it’s more important to do this right than to do it fast.”
