
Chicago, Il. — A special screening of the documentary, Insert Coin, will be held at DePaul University on Friday, February 10th.
Documentary summary:
“Eugene Jarvis, the creator of 80s classic video games such as Defender and Robotron, returned to the industry in the 90s. In the process, he assembles a team that pioneers the concept of bringing live-action into video games, kickstarting a new era in the arcades. The technology mushrooms into massive hits such as Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam and soon the team begins to conquer the world. What began as a small tight-knit group begins to deal with success and eventually the rise of home consumer technology.”
The event will also host a post-screening talk with director, Joshua Tsui, and Eugene Jarvis.
Of note, Tsui is also known for his work with the Mortal Kombat and Tony Hawk franchises.
This free screening is scheduled for Fri, Feb 10, 2023 at 6:00 PM CST and will take place at DePaul University CDM Theater.
