When one of the Inner Circle goes missing, Reeva intensifies security in their compound

Synopsis: When one of the Inner Circle goes missing, Reeva intensifies security in their compound, but realizes that her plans may have already been exposed.

Review: The Gifted returns after what has felt like a long Two Week break and the show hits the ground running with the loss of a major character.

The Story

Acting on information provided by Reeva through a source. The Purifier go out on a mission to wipe out the Morlock’s.

Meanwhile, at the underground Morlock camp. Blink is trying to convince Erg to take action against the Purifiers before they hit them. Little does she know that an attack is imminent.

At the Inner Circle. Reeva is in total meltdown about the loss of one of their members and has locked the Inner Circle’s base down while an investigation leaves no stone unturned as The Frost sister’s interrogated absolutely everyone. When they find who they think the culprit is and Reeva takes action. The result hits Lorna pretty hard.

Elsewhere, Reed, Kate, and Lauren are rushing in to help evacuate Erg’s Morlocks as their base is under attack. During the dramatic journey there Reed makes the decision to stop dosing himself with the serum, which suppresses his mutant genes. A decision, which is prompted by Lauren who has chosen to stop taking the serum and use her power to help.

The Acting

Jamie Chung puts in a fantastic performance in what is her last episode of the series. Blink’s conversations with Erg as she tries to convince him to support the Mutant Underground and fight back in order to protect those less able too are really well performed. I also felt that her final scene was made all the more poignant by the fact that she had somewhat reconnected with Thunderbird who said he’d come to help anytime she called irrespective of their relationship issues.

This was a brilliant episode, which provided a lot of character growth for all concerned.

It will be interesting to see if Erg and Thunderbird manage to find a working relationship in light of how Blink sacrificed herself.

It will also be interesting to see how Reed deals with his powers now that he has chosen to embrace them.
