Synopsis: While Nora grapples with the revelation that Thawne killed her grandmother, Team Flash must stop the formidable team-up of a newly sprung from jail Weather Witch and Silver Ghost, a new meta-tech villain who can control engines and motorized technology. Meanwhile, Caitlin and Cisco discuss creating a meta-human cure.
Review: Team Flash have a couple of issues to deal with this week, but things get complicated when Barry is sidelined.
The Story
We get a lot of different story threads this week, which will likely build up to the eventual conclusion of the season.
Firstly Nora is shocked to learn that Thawne murdered her grandmother, which makes her even less willing to trust him and his plans, which she is supposedly acting on in the present.
Meanwhile, Barry is called as a witness for the prosecution against Weather Witch who seems remorseful for her actions, but when Barry has to leave and go after the new villain Silver Ghost. He winds up being sidelined for 24 hours due to the fact that Silver Ghost used Dark Matter tech, which unstabilized Barry’s powers causing him to phase.
Back at Starlabs Caitlin has removed the sharks of Cicada’s staff from Cisco’s hands, which leads to Cisco figuring out that the shards were gradually removing his powers, which makes him think he can use the information in order to come up with a cure for metahumans to remove their powers.
In the absence of Barry, Nora has to step up and assume his duties to the city as Excess and she is particularly hard on Weather Witch’s plea for a chance at redemption. But after some advice from Barry, she reconsiders her position.
Elsewhere, Sherloque Wells is getting suspicious about Nora and her intentions.
The Acting
The two performances that impressed me this week came from Danielle Panabaker and Carlos Valdes who have some wonderful scenes where Caitlin and Cisco debate the ethics of creating a cure for Metahumans.
I also feel that Reina Hardesty put in a solid performance as Weather Witch and I quite enjoyed Gabrielle Walsh in her role as Silver Ghost, which I’m hoping will be an interesting villain that the team will get to tangle with again, which they likely will.
Overall
This was a solid episode, but not as strong as it could have been due to there being a fair bit of expositional stuff happening in order to build on some of the overall stories for the season arc.
I hope that we get to learn a bit more in the coming weeks with regards to what Thawne is up too. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before Nora is found out.
