Could Cisco be getting his Vibe Powers back?

Synopsis: Cisco’s faith in his ability to fill Barry’s shoes as Team Leader is upended when he learns of a shocking murder. Meanwhile, Killer Frost trusts no one except herself to hunt down the dangerous Ramsey Rosso.

Review: A stand out episode for Cisco that offers some closure on his past as vibe and opens up new possibilities.

The Story

When Barry and Iris decide to take a long weekend. Cisco is left in charge of the team and winds up having to deal with a ton of self-doubt, which very nearly leads to him going down for something he didn’t do. To make matters worse he starts to show the symptoms of Breach psychosis, which is something that Breachers get when they refuse or stop using their powers. When Breacher tells Cisco about the death of Gypsy. It spurs Cisco into an investigation that has him asking all sorts of questions about himself. Thankfully his new girlfriend Kamilla proves to be an emotional rock of support for a doubtful Cisco.

Elsewhere, Joe finds himself trapped in some underground tunnels with Harrison ‘Nash’ Wells who thinks he may have a way to save Barry Allen from his fate.

The Acting

We get a brilliant performance from Carlos Valdes who portrays duel roles for this episode as he plays the part of Echo who is the alternate universe version of Cisco, but with a very different moral compass.

We also get strong performances from Tom Cavanagh and Jesse L. Martin as Harrison ‘Nash’ Wells and Captain Joe West respectively as we see them both bicker about logic versus faith as the try to escape from the tunnels, which they are trapped in.

Overall

A fun stand-alone episode that does little toward the Crisis story arc, but does set a few things up for the weeks to come. The closure of Cisco’s arc with Gypsy was well done and acted by those involved, and it’s always great to see Danny Trejo as Breacher and his interactions with Cisco Ramone.

We get a little more on the Ramsey storyline, but not a huge amount in regards to it going anywhere for this week. But he has made it clear to Caitlin Snow that she is on borrowed time.
