Synopsis: In ‘A Few Good Women’. As the stakes with Lex are raised higher than ever before, Lena must decide how far she is willing to go to stop her brother.

The Story

With Lex on trial for his crimes and choosing to defend himself with his twisted version of the truth. It is down to his sister Lena to try and play him at his own game. To that end. She happily takes the stand when she is called to testify.

Meanwhile, Alex and the gang are trying to break Supergirl out of the phantom zone. To do so they enlist the help of an alien vampire called Silas who is from the planet Transilvania. As the only person to ever successfully get into the zone. Alex needs him to show her and the others how he did it. But the problem isn’t so much about getting in. It’s whether or not they can deal with the phantoms once they do. Helping on that front is Brainiac who is coaching Dreamer via a holographic simulation he has cooked up. Their plan rests on Dreamer’s power to find a person’s location.

In the Phantom Zone. Supergirl is struggling to deal with the phantoms. But is rescued by her Father and concocting a plan to try and break out.

The Acting

‘A Few Good Women’ has some pretty good acting performances. Mostly coming from the Luther women. Katie McGrath is on fire in the scenes where she is undergoing cross-examination during Lex Luther’s trial. The chemistry between Katie and Jon Cryer is fantastic and has been a strong feature of the series for some time. Brenda Strong continues to rock it as Lex and Lena’s mother Lillian Luther and also shares some pretty compelling scenes with both her onscreen children.

‘A Few Good Women’ felt like a bit of an uneven episode. Where the trial of Lex Luther seemed to be far more compelling than the main premise of the episode. Seeing Dreamer still doubting her powers is kind of old now. She really should be more sure of herself by now in terms of control over her abilities. This episode felt very much like a step down for her charecter. Also, Supergirl meeting her father is the Phantom Zone felt a little predictable.

Overall. A fairly average episode, which is saved from complete oblivion by a compelling court trial.
