Synopsis: The Mandalorian and Grogu explore the ruins of a destroyed planet. As they search for the mines of Mandalore.
The Story
Picking the story up from last week. Din Djarin and Grogu make a short stop on Tatooine to try and obtain a memory chip of an IG-11 droid from Peli Motto. Unfortunately, Motto doesn’t have one and cannot get one. So instead she allows Din Djarin to lend her Astromech Droid.
From here Din Djarin heads to Mandalore and begins his search for the old mines where he hopes to be able to redeem himself and rejoin the Creed. However when Din Djarin is captured by a cyborg. Grogu has to leave him behind in order to get help from Bo-Katan Kryze.
The Acting
Katee Sackhoff makes her return as Bo-Katan and gets a bit more to do this week as she catches up with Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and gives him a bit of a history lesson about the final days of Mandalore. I really enjoyed these scenes as they retell a lot of the story that hardcore fans would have seen played out in the Clone Wars animated series. So it’s a great bit of storytelling for those that have not seen the Clone Wars series. I also loved the brief scene where Bo-Katan cooks a traditional Mandalorian soup and is surprised to learn that Din Djarin has never tasted it before.
Overall
This was a solid episode in which Din Djarin gets to fulfill his obligation to the Creed and bathe in the waters below the mines of Mandalore, but not without some danger. I continue to love the various facial expressions that the CGI team is able to get with Grogu. I especially love how his ears go really low when he is scared.
Overall. A really fun episode with some nice character moments between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan.
