Synopsis: In Is This Not Real Magic? She-Hulk’s new client Wong is suing a magician for unauthorized use of the Mystic Arts.

The Story

Picking up from last week’s massive case. Jen has begun moving on with her life and is still getting acclimatized to being a She-Hulk, but learns that having a double life is not at all easy. Add to this a new case, which sees Wong looking to sue a stage magician called Donny Blaze for his misuse of the Mystical Arts in his magic show. And we get all of this from the fact that one of Blaze’s stunts ruins Wong’s enjoyment of The Sopranos.

The Acting

Tatiana Maslany continues to exhibit her talent for comedy as we see She-Hulk enter the dating scene only to have her date interrupted by Wong, who needs some help to fend off some demons, which Donny Blaze has accidentally summoned. This is perhaps the most slapstick that the series has gotten to date. As we see a comedic battle with some pesky demons. Added to this is the rather bizarre court case in which Donny Blaze created havoc on the proceedings. Rhys Coiro is fun in his role as Donny Blaze and the bickering in court between him and Wong (Benedict Wong) is ridiculously fun.

Overall

Is This Not Real Magic? was a fun episode with some good laughs. However, the story didn’t feel like it was properly concluded by the end, and am kind of looking forward to seeing how it gets wrapped up fully in next week’s episode as we still need to see Blaze and Wong return to the court for the second part of their hearing. I loved how the writers combined She-Hulks date with the attack from the demons, which pulled She-Hulk away from her date.

Overall. A fun episode that flew by.
