Synopsis: In Fellow Travelers, Ben lands in 1979 Chicago as Jack Armstrong, a devoted security guard to talented pop singer Carly Farmer. During Carly’s prep for a concert, it quickly becomes clear her life is in danger and Ben must determine who is trying to kill her and why.
The Story
Having revealed to Addison that he jumped into the Quantum Leap Excellerator to save her life during the midseason break. Ben and Addison must put it aside for a time in order to save the life of pop singer Carly Farmer who in 1979 was supposedly murdered by her own sister. Using his intuition and Madison’s investigative skills. Ben manages to prove that her sister was framed. But who would do such a thing?
In the present day. Magic and the team mull over the new revelations that Ben has made in regard to why he activated Quantum Leap. It seems the only other person that can give them any answers is Janis Calavicci who Ben enlisted to help him go behind their backs. In order to get those answers Jenn goes on a trip to bring Janis in and get some answers. However, it could be that the team may not like some of the answers that Janis has. As she implies that Ben enlisted her help because a member of their team could not be trusted.
The Acting
Deborah Ann Woll puts in a solid guest performance as pop singer Carly Farmer who is sort of your typical late 70s solo performer who is sort of in the vein of Fleetwood Macs Carly Simon as the song that gets sung at the end has a similar vibe and happens to be called Fellow Travelers. The chemistry between Woll and Raymond Lee was pretty solid throughout as you could easily believe that Ben’s character was there to protect her and do what was best for all parties in her entourage.
In the present-day segments of the show. We get a nice scene between Nanrisa Lee and Georgina Reilly as we see Jen meet up with Janis Calavicci for a little chat. I’m getting to like Janis the more that I see of her and have to wonder where she is going to end up in the scheme of things. As we do not know fully when Ben went to her as yet and who it was that put him on alert to begin with. Though am secretly hoping that Caitlin Bassett’s Addison turns out to be the villain of the piece.
