Synopsis: Nancy and the Drew Crew discover that the car wreck that left one of their own at death’s door was no accident. While simultaneously hoping to solve the crime, the crew investigates the physical evidence of sabotage to the car and take a supernatural detour into the metaphysical world.

Review: This episode provides some intriguing backstory for Ace and reveals his connection to the local police chief.

The Story

Following up on events from the last episode. Ace and Laura Tandy have been involved in a nasty car wreck. Laura didn’t make it and Ace is hanging on by a thread and is in a coma with abnormal brain activity. Nancy and her friends rush to the hospital and they suspect foul play. McGinnis and much of the police force are also there due to Ace having strong ties with the local police given that his father was an officer on the force. McGinnis, who has a Native American heritage sees a spirit roaming the hospital and figures out that Nancy and her crew have been messing around with the metaphysical. To that end, he arranges with Nancy, her father, and Georgia to hold a seance of sorts to try and reconnect Ace’s spirit with his body, but things prove rather difficult given that Nancy and her father were at odds with each other.

While Nancy and Chief McGinnis deal with trying to help Ace. Nick and Bess investigate Bess’s girlfriend and discover that she has also been investigating the Hudson family.

The Acting

Adam Beach gets quite a bit to do in this episode as McGinnis and hopefully, he gets to play more of a role in future episodes because I really like the direction that his character is headed in. Leah Lewis was also really good in the episode in her role of Georgia, who in this episode winds up being the person that takes the spirit walk and helps Ace out.

This was a really good episode with loads of character developments for a majority of the key players. I loved the expansion of McGinnis’s character and the fact that he was able to use his Native American background in order to help Ace, which in turn helped Nancy discover who it was that killed Laura Tandy and very nearly killed Ace. I also enjoyed the twist with regards to Nancy’s father and the revelation that he did know more than he was fessing up too.

Overall. A brilliant episode with some fantastic twists and turns.
