Synopsis: While trying to uncover the truth about a long-buried history between Lucy Sable and Ryan Hudson, Nancy finds herself in the curious position of having to strike a deal with Horseshoe Bay’s newest and most suspect widower.
Review: The mystery of Lucy Sable continues to keep Nancy busy and throws up some interesting connections to the Hudson’s and a mysterious ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ style party for the 1%.
The Story
Following up on a lead that she found in video footage that she found in the 1999 Time Capsule, which Owen Marvin helped her dig up. Nancy thinks that Ryan Hudson is somehow connected with the murder of Lucy Sable and continues to believe that Lucy’s murder shares a similar connection to the death of Tiffany Hudson. When she gains entry into Ryan Hudson’s house she finds an invitation to a mysterious party, that is only attended by the filthy rich.
Things get really interesting when Nancy returns home to find a distraught Ryan looking for her father to help him. He believes someone is trying to kill him and wants help to sell off some old antique Roman Coins, which were believed to have sunk on a cargo ship full of rare antiquities. Nancy sees an opportunity and does a deal with Ryan to help her get access to the party.
While Nancy is investigating Lucy Sable. Nick, Georgia, Beth, and Ace have learned about the coins that Ryan is trying to obtain with a view to auctioning them off. Nick gets hold of an old shipping manifest from a sunken ship, which included the Roman coins. We learn that the ship, which was full of old rare things was part of a deal that had gone bad between the Hudson and the Marvin family.
At the Party. Nancy thinks she has learned the truth behind the mysterious death of Lucy Sable, but just needs to get the proof.
The Acting
The cast of this series is really beginning to show its strength as we got a lot of fun scenes involving Nancy’s friends, who were doing their own investigation, which also led them to the party. Leah Lewis and Maddison Jaizani had some funny scenes together as Georgia and Beth respectively. I loved the moment after Beth had crashed and burned with her girlfriend and Georgia asks her to utilize her skills as a thief to help her and Nick recover the Roman coins. I also enjoyed the scene where Georgia asks Nick if he’d like a crowbar in order to kneecap Owen for hitting on Nancy.
Overall
This was a fun episode to watch. I loved the fact that we got to see more of Nancy’s friends working together as a team while Nancy did her own thing. I also loved the visual effect we seen when Nancy walked past the water fountain when she was at Ryan’s house.
Overall. A solid outing, but still no sign of the famous Hardy Boys, which makes me wonder if we’ll get to see them at some point in this series or if they will be introduced later.
