Nancy asks Temperance for help with an occult approach

Synopsis: In The Vision of the Birchwood Prisoner. Nancy asks Temperance for help with an occult approach to getting answers from a murder suspect. Meanwhile, the Bobbsey entanglement creates a world of trouble for Ace.

The Story

When Nancy finds out that the police are going to release Richard Trott for lack of evidence. She seeks help from Temperance in order to pay Trott a visit and use magic on him to see what memories they can get. As they do they learn that Trott has a longstanding connection to a supernatural being. Elsewhere, Ace has a major fallout with his dad over his connection to Bobbsey.

The Acting

We get some fun performances in this episode. I particularly enjoyed Maddison Jaizani’s somewhat comedic performance as Bess tries to delay Agent Park from getting to the police station. The whole scene with the dead cat was a hoot. Likewise, we also got great performances from Kennedy McMann and Bo Martynowska as Nancy and Temperance go on their mission to extract information from Trott.

Anthony Natale also puts in a great performance as Ace’s father Captain Thom who gets a rather emotional scene in which he kicks Ace out of his home.

A really fun episode, which adds a few more layers to the plot. I love what Temperance Hudson is bringing to the show with her supernatural powers. And I find it particularly fun seeing Beth become her apprentice. The dynamite of mistrust between Nancy and Temperance is fun to watch.

The storyline involving Ace and Bobbsey takes a dramatic turn and will only make for interesting viewing in the weeks to come. Although I did feel rather sad that Ace’s father had to resort to throwing his son out. However, it will be interesting to find out if Bobbsey has any connection to the killings irrespective of it being directly or indirectly.

Overall. The Vision of the Birchwood Prisoner added a few more interesting plot twists to the show. I can’t wait to see more.
