Synopsis: When cliff gets an upgrade for his robot body. The Doom Patrol accidentally travels to the future to let Cliff try his new hand out. But when they arrive they find the world has been taken over by ravenously hungry zombie butts.
The Story
Having survived last season’s events. The Doom Patrol has become a pretty solid dysfunctional superhero team and has been led for the last few months by Rita Farr aka Elasti Woman. However, when Cliff aka Robotman is given a new hand, which will allow him to feel whatever he touches. The team goes off on a jolly jaunt in their time machine. The plan is to visit Cliff’s family in Florida, but they wind up in the future instead. While there they learn that every member of the team has died to accept for Vic who warns them about the coming Buttpocalypes.
Having learned of this terrible future the team tries to figure out how best to prevent the Buttpocalypes from happening. Vic who is no longer a Cyborg figures out that they are maybe able to stop the Zombie Butts from becoming a thing if they kill Bureau of normalcy agent Darren Jones. Armed with this information Madam Rouge and Robotman go on a rogue mission to kill Jones. While Vic and Crazy Jane undertake a mission of their own.
The Acting
Michelle Gomez reprises her role as Madam Rouge who is looking to redeem herself with the team and hopefully fix her relationship with Rita. The scenes of Rita (April Bowlby) and Madam Rouge bickering in the second episode is funny. We also get a great team-up between Madam Rouge and Robotman/Cliff (Brendan Fraser) as they go after Darren Jones. In short, all the main cast members are back and 100 percent in form as they create chaos in the midst of chaos.
Overall
These opening two episodes does a solid job of setting up the story arc for this year and it looks to be even more nuts than the one that we got last year. The Zombie Butts looked funny and vicious at the same time. Though am not sure I can get the image of a chorus line of butts singing out of my head after having seen this.
