Next year IDW will be launching a 4 issue mini-series based on the hit Netflix series ‘Glow’, which follows the Glamorous Women of Wrestling.
The comic will offer a new story, which will spin out from events seen thus far in the television series. The story sees the ladies accidentally scheduled for a charity bout of wrestling where they are matched up against real lady wrestlers.
Written by WWE and Euthanauts author Tini Howard with art by Hannah Templer (Jem and the Holograms: Dimensions). This new comic is to be overseen by the creators of ‘Glow’ Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch who will executive produce.
“We’re thrilled to work with IDW to bring new stories to life on the page and in the ring,” Mensch and Flahive said in a statement. “Can we smoosh 14 women into a little frame? Only time will tell… but we couldn’t be more excited!”
The comics writer Tini Howard is also excited to be a part of the book. Saying that she’s a huge fan.
“I’m more than just a GLOW fan, I’m a wrestling fan, too. I’ve written wrestling comics before, and I adore it. Wrestling and comic books are a natural fit for more than just tights and fights. Each of the gorgeous ladies has either developed her own character or adapted to one thrust upon her, and making that identify her own is not dissimilar to, say, putting on a bat costume.”
The comic book will debut in March.
Meanwhile, the Netflix series got a renewal back in August and will hopefully see a return of all our favorite characters including Alison Brie as Ruth ‘Zoya the Destroya’ Wilder, Betty Gilpin as Debbie ‘Liberty Belle’ Eagan, and of course Kia Stevens as Tammé ‘The Welfare Queen’ Dawson.
So which will we see first? The comic book or the third series?
My money is on the comic book. The last two series didn’t premiere until June, but I might end up with egg on my face.
