From the apocalyptic mind of Robert Kirkman and co-created by Eric Dickerson along with the network that brought you the hit zombie show, The Walking Dead; AMC has premiered its much anticipated sister zombie series, Fear the Walking Dead and the prognosis is tighten your seat belts because the zombie apocalypse is just about t0 begin.
While the first Pilot episode of the series may seem to some as if the show is a pale extension of its big bag brother of an apocalypse, it only seems that way as it features Chris Curtis as Travis, Kim Dickens as Madison, Frank Dillane as Nick and of course Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia, along with many other great actors.
What the first episode of this series is doing is in some ways the exact opposite of what the first episode of ‘The Walking Dead’ did; whereas Rick Grimes woke up from a coma straight into the nightmare that has become his life, the residents of Los Angeles are giving fans of the Walking Dead a front row view of exactly what it looks like in the last days before the dead rise and begin to overtake the living.
While the pilot episode of Fear the Walking Dead was not rich in zombie action, the first episode is ending right at the point in which we will get to see just how fast society can break down and humans will begin to become more savage than the zombies that are about to take over Los Angeles and indeed the world.
The pilot episode of Fear the Walking Dead was good specifically because it did not begin with Los Angeles in flames and the dead roaming the streets. The show’s producers needed to show the mundane circumstances of our every day lives in all of its boring, self centered and in trivial glory, so that we can all know what we would all miss so very much when the power goes off and the chaos begins.
I am looking forward to the next episodes of Fear the Walking Dead and I am absolutely sure that many of the very same aspects of the first season of The Walking dead that we all fell in love with will soon be forth coming, so just sit back and buckle up as the zombie guts are about to hit the crappy fan real soon.
