She will of course play the main female role of Belle in the new feature.

Emma Watson, who is best known for her role in the ‘Harry Potter’ movies is to take on the lead role in the forthcoming Disney live action version of ‘Beauty And The Beast’.

Watson confirmed this news via her Facebook page.

She will of course play the main female role of Belle in the new feature.

Stephen Chbosky, who directed Watson in his adaptation of his own novel ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’, has written the film’s screenplay from a previous draft by Evan Spiliotopoulos.

Watson was previously attached to a different ‘Beauty And The Beast’ movie, which was to be director by Guillermo del Toro for Warner Bros, but the film was put on hold after del Toro departed the project.

“My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting,” Watson wrote. “Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

Beauty and the Beast is tentatively set for a 2016 release.

This should be cool, but I would’ve preferred the del Toro version.
