Dominic Cooper, who played the hard drinking womanising Ian Fleming in ‘Fleming’ before reprising his Howard Stark role for ‘Agent Carter’ is to do his pennants as the lead in AMC’s ‘Preacher’. A pilot based on the controversial 90s comic book series from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
The pilot is executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
The story centres on Cooper’s Rev. Jesse Custer, a conflicted Texas minister who merges with a spiritual force called Genesis — making him more mighty than the Almighty. Joined by his gun-toting girlfriend Tulip (S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Ruth Negga) and the hard-drinking Irish vampire Cassidy, Custer begins a violent journey across the country in search of answers from a disenfranchised God.
Lucy Griffiths (Robin Hood and True Blood) and Ian Colletti (Rake) also star in the project.
