
Dolf Lundgren who is perhaps better known as Ivan Drago from ‘Rocky IV’ is about to play another Russian villain in the new season of ‘Arrow’.
According to TV Line the actor is to play a recurring role on Season 5 of The CW’s Arrow. The news was revealed during the CW’s panel at the TCA Press Tour, which is being held in LA.
“In our flashbacks, which are set in Russia this season, we are going to be bringing in Dolph Lundgren as a Big Bad,” showrunner Wendy Mericle said.
Lundgren, who has been an action hero of film and television has also enjoyed roles in ‘The Expendables’ action franchise, ‘The Punisher’ and ‘Masters of the Universe’.
‘Arrow’ Season 5 will feature a variety of fresh faces, including Popular alum Carly Pope (as a Coast City reporter), Chicago P.D.’s Josh Segarra (in the series-regular role of D.A. Adrian Chase aka Vigilante), Reaper‘s Rick Gonzalez as the DC Comics character Wild Dog, The Walking Dead‘s Chad L. Coleman as villain Tobias Church, The McCarthys‘ Tyler Ritter as SCPD Detective Malone, Blindspot’s Joe Dinicol recurring as Rory Regan aka the vigilante Ragman and former WWE grappler Cody Rhodes in a guest role TBA.
‘Arrow’ returns Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8/7c, where it now leads into the new drama ‘Frequency’.
