The mobile phone game ‘Doctor Who Legacy’ has added a paid expansion and is adding new characters and features in preparation for the ninth year of the revived series, which will mark Peter Capaldi’s second series as The Doctor.
The new update adds two premium add-on packs and new features that prepare the game for the new series of the show.
Similar to Peter Capaldi’s debut series last year, from September 19 the free-to-play mobile puzzle game will be updated the day after each new episode of series 9 airs, with new levels and characters based on that episode.
The £3.99 ($4.99) unlock will be updated over time like the main game, and teases that unique costume unlocks in the mode will carry over into the fully-fledged experience.
Elsewhere, the 3.0 update adds a new ‘Cracks in Time’ baddie ability that reshapes the board with unmovable objects and ‘Bombs’ that tend to go off after a certain number of gems, as well as a new season of Expert Mode levels.
Launching in late 2013, Doctor Who Legacy is a free-to-play game featuring Doctors, companions and enemies throughout the show’s 50-year history, and can be accessed through the App Store, Google Play and Facebook.
