Disney shows Last Jedi footage at Cinemacon

Rey is said to have ignited and deftly spun around Luke's lightsaber

With Disney’s annual Star Wars Celebration slated to take place this coming April in Orlando Florida, fan anticipation is high for the release of the first trailer to Episode VIII, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Interestingly on Tuesday March 28th, Disney showed some footage from The Last Jedi at Cinemacon, in which Rey is said to have ignited and deftly spun around Luke’s lightsaber.

While there was admittedly not a huge amount of The Last Jedi scenes which were released, those in attendance were also treated to clips of both Boyega’s Finn and Mayhew’s Chewbacca from the film, along with the now iconic Carrie Fisher dressed in military uniform as General Leia Organa.

Disney also took the opportunity to confirm Episode VIII’s cast at Cinemacon, which will in part include; Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, the late Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleason, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Lupita N’Yongo, Anthony Daniels and Laura Dern.

The Last Jedi is set to be released December 15, 2017 in theaters. The film was written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman, along with executive producers J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin and Tom Karnowski.
