The upcoming Baldur’s Gate television series has been one of the most intriguing fantasy projects in development since it was first announced earlier this year. While details remain scarce, the prospect of bringing one of gaming’s most celebrated role-playing worlds to live action has already sparked plenty of debate among fans. That’s exactly what Ian Cullen and Marx Pyle explore in the latest episode of SciFiPulse Now, where they discuss the series’ potential, the stories it could tell, and the characters they’d most like to see make the journey from game to screen.

During the discussion, the pair examine what makes Baldur’s Gate such an attractive property for television and why its rich mythology offers almost limitless storytelling possibilities. From sprawling adventures across the Forgotten Realms to political intrigue, ancient evils, and unforgettable companions, there is no shortage of material for a television series to draw upon.

One of the biggest talking points is whether the show should adapt existing stories from the games or forge an entirely new path within the Dungeons & Dragons universe. With decades of established lore and countless locations still unexplored on screen, the possibilities are almost endless, giving the writers plenty of room to create something that feels both familiar and fresh.

Naturally, no Baldur’s Gate conversation would be complete without a little fan speculation. Ian and Marx discuss some of the iconic characters and creatures they’d love to see appear, including Shadowheart, Karlach, mind flayers, dragons, drow, and, of course, the ever popular owlbears. They also consider whether familiar faces from the games should return or whether the series should introduce a completely new band of adventurers.

Whether you’re a lifelong Dungeons & Dragons player, a fan of the Baldur’s Gate games, or simply someone looking forward to the next big fantasy television series, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into in this latest episode of SciFiPulse Now.

As I said on YouTube, while I’m not a big DND guy I’d like to see Asteria the autistic Paladin in the upcoming Balder’s Gate 3 show. As I think it would be good if they had an autistic female character as one of the heroes.

I’ve read a couple of articles that have said that playing DND actually helps people with their mental health. And does not cause psychosis as they thought in the 80s.

Based on the photo of Shadow Heart you showed in the video I think Alexandra Daddario would be a good choice to play her. Although I never made it to that part of the game as I got snogged to death by a Mind Flayer lol.

Just to say Marx the construct characters are called Warforged not Gearforged.

    Thanks again guys.
