Adam Eterno is a British comics character who debuted in 1970. Whose adventures were serialised in Lion and Thunder magazines. Created by Jack le Grand and Tom Tully; Adam Eterno was an acolyte to a 16th century sorcerer. Who drank an immortality potion that conferred upon him enhanced strength. Cursed by the sorcerer with a weakness to gold; and to fall through time, Adam Eterno’s adventures saw him appearing in a different historical time period each week. Where he helped right wrongs and defend innocent people. An Adam Eterno series could provide another time traveling hero now that Doctor Who is paused for the moment. And it could also be a way of subtly teaching people about history. Depending where and when Adam Eterno’s adventures take him.
Who could play Adam Eterno?
Adam Eterno, in contrast to the Doctor from Doctor Who, is an action hero not a science adventurer. Meaning that his actor would have to fit that mould. Perhaps Tom Rhys Harries could be Adam Eterno? As his Ricky September Doctor Who role has shown that this performer can be heroic and hold his own in action scenes. Over and above that, maybe Adam Copeland could play this role? Because the former WWE wrestler resembles Adam Eterno from the comics and can convey that man of mystery vibe. As well as doing the action scenes. Ditto for Adam Rayner. Whose role in The Saint from 2017 proves that he can lead a production; as well as kick ass and take names. If they wanted to go for a more left field choice, maybe Mickey Rowe could portray Adam Eterno? As his physical acting skills could show Eterno’s weakness to gold excellently. Additionally, this actor could depict Adam Eterno’s confusion and disorientation as a man out of time brilliantly. Owing to his The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Christopher role.
A backdoor pilot for a 2000 A.D. cinematic universe

There have been several attempts to bring British comics characters to the big screen. From Sylvester Stallone’s 1995 Judge Dredd film; to the more recent Karl Urban Dredd outing, to Duncan Jones’ Rogue Trooper. UK comics are an undiscovered treasure house of stories. Maybe an Adam Eterno series could generate interest in British comic properties? Which could lead to adaptations of them on the big and small screen. There is definitely no shortage of brilliant British superheroes, writers and artists. It’s a shame that comics and animation are still to some degree looked down on in the West. As comics are home to some of the strongest and most nuanced ideas and concepts in any form of media. What comics in general, and particularly superhero comics, say about people and the human condition, is absent from basically every other genre you can name. To circle back to my original point; Adam Eterno could fill the gap left by shows like Doctor Who and Supernatural. And could potentially open the floodgates for many more British comics and genre adaptations.
This Adam Eterno fan hopes we see his adventures on our screens very soon.
