There are some excellent Star Wars Legends characters some of whom have been referenced or outright brought into the Disney canon. Over the last 10 years. We at Scifipulse would like to offer suggestions for which characters could be brought into mainline canon, ie the new Rey film, next. And who we think could play them. So without further ado, let’s get to it. To quote Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) “This is where the fun begins.”
1. Empress Marasiah Fel
Legends canon sees the Force sensitive Marasiah Fel. As the ruler of the Fel Empire, who ultimately forms a government with the Galactic Federation Triumvirate. I feel that bringing this character into the new canon would provide a new Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) type character. As well as giving Rey (Daisy Ridley) someone to bounce off. Possibly Marasiah disagrees with Rey’s Jedi training methods. Or is someone that Rey must answer to as the Chancellor of the New Republic? It could be that Rey and Marasiah don’t get on. Which could ultimately lead to a lightsaber duel between them. I’d say that Emily Carey would be a good choice to play Empress Fel.
2. Triclops
Bringing Triclops into canon. Could strengthen Rey’s character. Sentenced to work in the spice mines by his father Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid). Triclops could represent marginalised characters. As he is a three-eyed mutant. Perhaps Rey takes on a caring role for him. Defending her uncle against mutant stigma. Which would be consistent with her established role in Star Wars. It’s possible that the First Order’s remnants look to Triclops to lead them. In the aftermath of Palpatine’s death. However, Triclops wants nothing to do with them. Indeed, the Emperor’s son could be instrumental in helping Rey et al defeat their enemies. Showing that his heritage does not define him, like his niece. My choice to play Triclops is Thomas Lennon.
3. Cade Skywalker
Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) distant descendent. Cade Skywalker is a Force-using bounty hunter in Legends. Although it might be tricky to bring him into the new canon. This reviewer feels that he would play well off Ridley’s character. Being a morally grey spacer who uses the Force to help himself. Contrasting with the paragon like Rey. Maybe canon Cade is Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade’s son? Moreover, perhaps he was once part of Luke’s Jedi Academy but was broken by its destruction at Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) hands. Turning to life on the galaxy’s fringes as a coping mechanism. Cade could possibly challenge Rey over the Skywalker legacy. Only to become an ally later. I think that Tom Felton would be good as Cade Skywalker.
4. Galen Marek/Starkiller
The protagonist of the Force Unleashed games and Darth Vader’s secret apprentice. Starkiller is a character that many fans have wanted to see in live action. I feel that he could challenge Rey physically and in Force mastery. Could it be that Rey’s new Jedi Order uncovers a secret cloning facility? Where a Galen Marek clone awakens with no clue of who he is? Or of his master Vader’s fate? Perhaps this Starkiller is linked to the First Order somehow? Being their top secret assassin who is tasked with eliminating Rey? A canon Galen Marek would make a lot of people happy. I could see John Cena playing him excellently.
5. Ania Solo
Han Solo’s (Harrison Ford) Legends’ canon descendent. Ania Solo gets mixed up in events beyond her control. And is reluctant to save the day. It’s important to show characters who have doubts. Because watching them overcome their fears makes a great story. And subverts the boring invincible hero trope. It would challenge Disney to bring Ania Solo into canon. Given that she is related to Han Solo and the only Solo child thus far has been Ben. Explaining her absence from the sequel trilogy would be difficult. Perhaps Ania could be the Spider-Man to Rey’s Superman? Which is to say she could be kind and brave. But lack the awesome power that enabled Rey to destroy the Sith. Relying on her smarts instead. Annabel Scholey would play Ania Solo well in my opinion.

Kyp Durron would be a great character to save from Legends
It’s rather funny that Dom has written this as have recently picked up 2 volumes of the Legends Trades that deal with the New Republic as well as two volumes of the OG Marvel Strips from 70s and 80s and The Thrawn trilogy. Hey it was my birthday last week so I went on a spending spree.
