Synopsis: In Very Interesting, As An Astrogration Problem, A mysterious stranger offers to help our heroes.
The Story
Picking up from last week’s events, the children have been captured and are being held at the Pirate Spaceport by the Pirate Authorities. Fortunately, they are placed in the same cell as a mysterious stranger who uses Jedi abilities to help them escape—on the condition that they give him transport aboard their ship. The stranger, who introduces himself as Jod Na Nawood, has to earn the children’s trust before they agree to the deal. When Fern questions why he hadn’t used his powers to escape earlier, Jod explains that escaping would have been pointless without a way to leave the spaceport.
Jod Na Nawood—also known by his alias, Crimson Jack—takes the children to meet a colleague of his, Kh’ymm, an owl-like alien with expertise in astro-navigation. Jod hopes that Kh’ymm can help locate the children’s home planet, At Attin. Kh’ymm is intrigued by the children and their origins, as At Attin has long been considered a mythical world mentioned only in pirate shanties. Despite this, Kh’ymm has always believed the planet was real.
Their quest to find At Attin is abruptly cut short when Kh’ymm betrays Jod Na Nawood by alerting the authorities to his presence. Forced to make a hasty escape, Jod and the children flee, but not before Kh’ymm has a private conversation with KB. During this exchange, Kh’ymm validates KB’s distrust of Jod, adding to the tension within the group.
Meanwhile, on At Attin, the children’s parents are growing increasingly worried as they await word from their planet’s security services. Unfortunately, the updates they receive bring little hope.
The Acting
Jude Law delivers a solid performance as Jod Na Nawood, striking the perfect balance between charm and shadiness. His chemistry with the younger actors works well, and he shares some standout moments with them. One memorable scene is with KB (Kyriana Kratter), where she boldly tells him straight to his face that she doesn’t trust him.
Alia Shawkat also impresses in her role as the owl-like alien Kh’ymm, bringing depth and intrigue to the character.
Overall
Very interesting, As an Astrogration Problem does a solid job of building on the story introduced in last week’s premiere. I really enjoyed watching the relationship between Jod Na Nawood and the kids develop, as well as the scenes with Kh’Ymm, who is a character I truly hope we see again in future episodes.
