Synopsis: In Day, the Jedi head to a new world as they close in on the clever assassin. Meanwhile, Mae seems to be having a change of heart.
The Story
Having seen off two of her four Jedi targets. Mae heads off to a mysterious planet where she searches for the Whookie Jedi Kelnacca. However, after her recent encounter with her sister Osha, Mae appears to be having a change of heart and is close to turning her back on her Master. Master Sol, Osha, Yord Fandar, and Jecki Lon continue the search for Mae. Master Sol believes there is still good in Mae and hopes to prove his point.
The Acting
Manny Jacinto puts in a solid performance in this episode as the somewhat shifty Qimir who has been aiding Mae in her quest but seems to be hiding a few secrets. Jacinto’s scenes with Mae (Amandla Stenberg) facilitate a plot twist that sets up the ending of this episode brilliantly. Stenberg continues to do well in her duel role of Mae and Osha. Dafne Keen who fans will remember from the BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials puts in a somewhat understated performance as Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon.
Overall
Day proves to be a fairly straightforward episode with a small plot twist that could wind up changing the game completely. We finally get to see our first glimpse of a sith at the close of the episode as Mae is on the cusp of making her decision.
Overall. This wasn’t a bad episode and presented us with some interesting character moments, but I can’t help but feel that the writers are treading water at times due to maybe not having enough story to fill the eight half-hour episodes. But as always I hope to be proved wrong.
