Synopsis: In Fame Patrol, Rita gets invited to a Retrospective of her movies and finds herself at the mercy of Dr. Janus. Meanwhile, Vic catches up with old friends.
The Story
After having been voted down as the team leader in last week’s show. Rita is very much in the doldrums. So when a leaflet is dropped at the house with information about a Rita Farr Retrospective taking place at a local cinema. The retired film star can’t resist a bit of nostalgia and goes along to watch a lot of her old movies, but soon finds that it is a trap set for her by a villain called Dr. Janus who seemingly wants to harvest Rita’s emotions.
When Rita goes missing Madam Rouge sends the team to go after her and soon they find themselves playing parts alongside Rita in her old films.
Elsewhere, Victor aka Cyborg is getting used to life looking like a regular person again and decides to reconnect with his old high school peer group. But soon finds out that pretty much every one of them had issues with him after he became Cyborg, which means he has to mend a few fences.
The Acting
April Bowlby gets a fair bit to do in this episode as she plays Rita Farr playing the various different characters that Rita played over the course of her film career. The scene where she is playing out an old movie with one of her co-stars who she had an affair with was quite funny because at that point Rita had cottoned onto the fact that she was living within Dr. Janus’s artificial reality.
We also get some fun moments from Diane Guerrero and Brendan Fraser in which Crazy Jane and Robot Man find out that actually being in the world of a horror movie is a lot different to watching a horror movie.
Overall
Fame Patrol is a fun episode that explores the various characters a bit more but in a fun way. But we don’t quite get to understand who this Dr. Janus is or what she wants with Rita. But I am sure we will get to learn a bit more as the story continues in next week’s show.
