Synopsis: In Zero Friends Again, Relationships fray under the pressures of a difficult journey. Jod Na Nawood is captured.
The Story
After discovering a load of treasure in last week’s episode, the kids and Jod are ambushed by Brutus and his pirates. In the chaos, the group is separated when Jod is captured. As the former captain of Brutus’s crew, Jod Na Nawood tries to bargain for his freedom by claiming he knows the location of At Attin, where all the valuable Old Republic credits are made. Intrigued, Brutus and his pirates leave the planet with Jod, abandoning the kids to fend for themselves.
Now without any adult supervision, the kids feel the weight of their situation. Tensions rise, leading to a falling-out that splits them into two groups. Fern and Neel head off to search for their ship in the planet’s scrapyards, while Wym and KB follow a swarm of small scrap droids. However, KB’s cyborg parts begin to malfunction due to a lack of maintenance. Eventually, one of her components completely fails, leaving her unable to move. Despite her condition, KB guides Wym through the process of manufacturing a spare part and repairing her, proving just how resourceful they can be under pressure.
The Acting
Jude Law delivers a solid performance, with a few entertaining moments as Jod Na Nawood tries to bargain with Brutus and the pirates to secure his freedom.
Among the younger actors, Kyriana Kratter and Ravi Cabot-Conyers share a touching scene where Wym works to repair KB’s failing cyborg parts. During this moment, KB confides in Wym, admitting she sometimes feels afraid to tell Fern she can’t keep up with everything Fern wants to do, fearing she might end up with no friends again.
Overall
Another fun episode, with the younger cast members carrying much of the weight and delivering some great character moments. I particularly enjoyed the scene where KB opens up to Wym about her fears regarding her friendship with Fern. The moments with Brutus and his pirates were also a lot of fun. That said, I think it’s time we find At Attin—and soon.
