Synopsis: In these final two episodes, Agatha and Billy reach the end of the Witches’ Road and learn of its origins.
The Story
Following on from events in last week’s episode Agatha and Billy with some help from Jennifer have made it to the end of the Witches’ road, but a number of old scores need to be settled. Firstly, Jennifer learns that it was Agatha who put a binding spell on her and is finally able to free herself. The real score that needs settling is between Rio Vidal and Agatha, but before that can happen, Agatha must at least attempt to help Billy find his brother. As Rio is out for blood it is going to be Agatha’s.
In the finale, we learn about the origins of Agatha and Rio’s relationship and how The Witches Road was born from a scam that Agatha concocted with her son Nicholas Scratch to steal power from other witches.
Acting
Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza steal the show with epic performances as we learn about the truth behind Agatha and Rio’s somewhat complicated relationship and why Agatha has to pay the ultimate price. Joe Locke also puts in a fairly solid performance as Billy Maximoff and we get to see him adopt his superhero identity of Wiccan for the first time as he tries to save Agatha from her fate.
Overall
These final two episodes were a fairly solid ending for the first series, but have left things open for another series or to be resolved at some point in the future through one of the other Marvel series or movies. The acting performances were strong throughout the show and the character arcs have been really well developed with a nice conclusion for Jennifers arc as well as some nice changes and evolution for Agatha who is now a ghost and Billy who is now coming into his powers. The question is. When will we see Agatha nd Billy team up again and on what series will it be if it isn’t a second season of Agatha?
