Director J.J. Abrams has revealed that making ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was both “an intense and terrifying prospect”.
The director, who also co-wrote the series’ seventh instalment with Lawrence Kasdan said that reviving ‘Star Wars’ outweighed any misgivings he had about taking on the directorial reins.
“It’s [the] opportunity I think that’s greater than the fear.” Abrams told MTV of working on Star Wars. “Greater than the risk, and so I’m more excited about the work that everyone has done on the movie and this incredible cast.”
He continued: “It was an amazing experience making this movie for everyone. There was a sort of weird buzz in the air when we were making this movie, but we were all just aware of how hard we had to work to make it something worthy of people’s time.”
The new film will pick up the story 30 years after events seen in ‘Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi’ and will see the return of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill to the roles that they originated in the original trilogy of movies.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will debut in cinemas on December 18, 2015.
