Synopsis: In The Myth of the Ensnared Hunter. The Drew Crew goes on the hunt for an underground prison that may hold answers to the Frozen Hearts killings – all while following a lead on a relic that could cure George of the paranormal affliction that’s shortening her lifespan.

The Story

Having figured out that they are dealing with a supernatural murderer in last week’s show. Nancy enlists the help of her biological father Ryan Hudson to find the underground cage that the killer occupied. As they get there they find a key, but getting out of the underground tunnels leads them to a surprising revelation.

Meanwhile, Ace is working with Carson Drew to help the police find Bertram Bobbsey. Unfortunately, he has to enlist Amanda Bobbsey’s help to bring Bertrum in, which irreparably damages Ace’s relationship with her. However, there is a silver lining in that Ace’s actions may lead to them finding something called The Soul Splitter, which could well save George’s life.

The Acting

We get some fun scenes this week’s show between Kennedy McMann and Riley Smith as Nancy and her Father Ryan do a little investigating and find the underground prison of the Frozen Hearts Killer. The little scene at the end of the episode where Nancy teases Ryan about his fall into the case was nicely done.

We also get a strong performance from Alex Saxon as Ace who winds up having to sacrifice his relationship in order to retain his freedom and fix things with his mother and father. I felt kind of sad though given that I always felt that Ace and Amanda were a pretty good fit.

Overall

The Myth of the Ensnared Hunter is a fairly strong episode. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the sequences in which Nancy and Ryan were exploring the killer’s underground lair. But do wish that we could have had a few more jump scares.

I also quite enjoyed Ace’s storyline in the episode but was a little sad that it ended his relationship with Amanda Bobbsey as I really enjoyed the dynamic she had with Ace and what that brought to the team in last season’s show.

The reveal at the end of this episode is well worth the wait and presents some interesting possibilities as we move forward.
