Synopsis: To face The Galaxy Hopping Hate Beast That Eats Planets, the team on Earth asks for help in all the wrong places. While back on the Lazy Comet, something weird is going on with Izel’s crew, and it’s not just the puffies.
Review: The story arc finally begins to unravel as Earth faces imminent danger.
The Story
Mack has released Sarge, but not without conditions. In order to help defend the Earth from the threat of the Shrike Mack places, Deke, Agent May, and Daisy on his crew and allows Sarge to take one of his own people, but Sarge is not playing by the same set of rules.
Meanwhile, out in space, the Lazy Comet plods on towards Earth and unbeknownst to Fitz and Simmons, they are helping Izel the destroyer of many worlds and the person who controls the Shrike.
Back on Kitson Enoch is reaching out to his fellow anthropologists in hopes of helping the planet Earth defeat Izel.
The Acting
Clark Gregg continues to provide a fun and interesting take on the less heroic version of Coulson in the form of Sarge. The scenes he shares with Chloe Bennet are some of the best in recent weeks.
Jeff Ward provides some comic relief as Deke Shaw and the relationship that forms between him and Snowflake is hilarious viewing. Hopefully, we get to see them play a little more in the next few weeks. The looks of disgust on May and Daisy’s faces were hysterical.
Overall
A fairly strong episode, which sets up things for what could be one hell of a battle, which we’ll most likely see in next weeks second part. I really enjoyed how well thought out the mythology was for the introduction of Izel and also liked the fact that two of the smartest people in Shield could be so easily fooled into helping her find Earth.
I’m hoping that we’ll get to see some of Sarge’s backstory at some future date to help link this all together. It would perhaps also explain why his genetic makeup is an identical match to Coulson.
Overall. A fun episode.
