Synopsis: Diana’s aunts’ home gives up all sorts of secrets when Diana and Matthew pay a visit. Danger looms as Juliette breaks free from Gerbert.
Review: Picking up from last week. Diana and Matthew bid farewell to his ancestral home and head to the USA for a revealing visit with Diana’s two Aunts.
The Story
Matthew and Diana find themselves the guest of Diana’s two aunts where she learns the truth behind why her magic was locked away from her for so many years but has to get over the emotional fallout fairly quickly because Knox is onto them. To that end, Sarah begins to train Diana in some basics on how to use her magic while Matthew teaches her how to better defend herself.
Meanwhile, at the congregation, Baldwin proves as good as his word when he uses Satu as the reason that he has not been able to catch up with Diana, but it seems that Dominico has other plans, which pretty much involve using Juliette to track down Diana.
The Acting
Some solid performances this week from the two principal actors and Alex Kingston puts in a good performance as Sarah one of Diana’s two aunts. I also have to give high marks to Gregg Chillin as the devious vampire Dominico who seems to be playing a very dangerous game.
CGI
There are some pretty nice sequences this week, but nothing quite as dramatic as last weeks battle royale between Diana and Satu. This week it was a focus on the smaller things such as the little accident Diana has when she is trying to use her magic to light the candle and of course the sequence where she teleports.
Overall
This episode is mostly setting the stage for next weeks finale, which will hopefully only be the end of season one.
We have to watch for another duel next week, but I am hoping we’ll learn a little more about the Demon’s and Agatha’s daughter in law, who is seeking an audience with Diana.
The episode ends on a decent cliffhanger, which will likely keep fans hanging on until next weeks final episode.
