Synopsis: The Team chases Rittenhouse to a stock car race in the 1950s where Wyatt learns that his favorite race car driver is actually a Rittenhouse sleeper agent on a mission to destroy the American car industry. To stop the Rittenhouse plan, Wyatt, Lucy and Rufus team up with Wendell Scott, the first African-American NASCAR driver.
Review: The team goes back to the 1950’s to the early days of Nascar to seek out and prevent a Rittenhouse sleeper agent from destroying the US automotive industry. While there they team with Wendell Scott in order to succeed in their mission.
This is a fun episode with a lot going on in the 1950’s as well as in present day. In the present day, Jiya is still handling the effects of her affliction, which has taken on a new symptom. She seems to be able to see things before they happen. Back in the 1950’s Rufus gets burned while attempting to work on Wendell’s car. Jiya sees the burn on Rufus before that event taking place. Also in the present Connor Mason is letting his ego get out of control again and puts the team at risk by attending some sort of technology event. Also in the present Lucy’s mum and Nicholas are plotting their next move, which culminates in a map of sorts.
The writers have a ton of fun with this episode. The stories about Wendell running moonshine are really nicely done and I loved the fact that Wyatt is a Nascar fanboy of the highest order and it is him forming a bond with Wendell that helps the team succeed in their mission. This also provides a bit of nice character backstory for Wyatt who talks about stealing his father’s car and driving it into a lake. But not before having run illegal drugs with it until the pistons popped.
Overall. A fun episode with a nice acting performance from Joseph Lee Anderson as Wendell Scott. I loved the fact that we get to see Wyatt let his hair down a little in this episode and in turn allow the other team members to have some fun as well. The idea of Rittenhouse sleeper agents planted in every decade is a pretty good one, but it is only a matter of time before it becomes tit for tat and the good guys start to plant their own sleeper agents back in time. Of course, that is only assuming the show is lucky enough to get a third season.
