Synopsis: Scott, Virgil and Kayo assist a plummeting cargo zeppelin with a deadly loading claw and volatile fuel source.
Review: International Rescue has to deal with a lot in this episode in which Virgil, Scott and Kayo must avert a potential catastrophe as a Zeppelin threatens to take out a sizeable populated city.
While all this is happening we see Brains working with John in order to update the mechanics and database of Thunderbird 5, which makes the job of diverting the Zeppelin away that bit harder due to the fact that they are running the logistics of the rescue from back up contingencies. Which is great because it allows Brains some character moments where he is having to make the calculations for the rescue via good old fashioned brain power.
The visuals in this story are really well produced. I loved the sequence in which Kayo has to outrun the automated claw when on board the zeppelin, but also the exterior visuals of Thunderbird 1 and Thunderbird 2 doing their respective jobs in terms of latching onto the Zeppelin were a joy to watch.
It’s been great to see Kayo get more to do. Especially in the last few episodes and getting to see more of Thunderbird Shadow in action was also good, but it be great to see a full on episode with Kayo where she is having to use all of her spy craft skills, which is something we haven’t really seen as yet.
The sequence toward the end of the episode in which Thunderbird 1 guides the Zeppelin into a controlled crash was beautiful to watch and illustrates just how much CGI is able to play a positive role in this show. Especially when used in conjunction with the actual models.
Although the story was pretty much a simple one. It was executed brilliantly by some fantastic voice acting performances and stunning visuals.
