The new double issue of Entertainment Weekly, features a great image of Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans, as perhaps their most iconic and recognizable alter egos, Iron Man and Captain America, standing in front of their new villainous nemesis, Ultron, with what seems to be an army of Ultron-like robots appearing menacingly behind them, in next summer’s upcoming Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.
While the article features eight new photos from the much anticipated blockbuster Avengers sequel, one
photo immediately stood out among the rest in that it gives visual confirmation of Don Cheadle’s appearance and participation of his Iron Man alter ego, War Machine.
The picture is set in a lounge, with a civilian dressed Jim Rhodes in what appears to be a party or super hero get together scene in the film.
The film’s director, Joss Whedon, recently revealed Ultron’s origin as the villain having been created by Tony Stark, rather than by Hank Pym as in the comic book universe, and is a self-aware robot, which Stark designed in order to take over for him as Iron Man. However, as luck would have it, Ultron has his own plans and designs with respect to how to help humankind.
Whedon also indicated that Cheadle’s character, War Machine, will play a “key role” in the final confrontation with Stark’s out of control robotic child. While there are seemingly no more details surrounding War Machine’s part in the much anticipated Avengers movie, Jim Rhodes War Machine is sure to bring a fun and welcomed element to Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, which is slated for a May 2015 release date.
Until then, Excelsior True Believers!
