Synopsis: Scott and Alan travel to the far side of the moon to rescue their father’s best friend from a meteor shower.
Review: Thunderbirds pays a few playful homages to Gerry Anderson’s ‘Space 1999’ with the story, which sees Scott learning a thing or two from his fathers best mate, who he is tasked with rescuing.
There’s an element of humor involved as Scott finds out though forewarned that his jet pack would likely go a little crazy when it comes to operating within the moons gravity.
The story is really mostly a two character affair in which Scott tries to persuade his dads friend to leave the station, but finds that he is not willing to leave until he knows for sure whether or not the moon base can survive the meteor storm.
The scenes in which Scott and the old man are shooting at the meteor’s were done really well. In fact the way those guns worked put me in mind a little of the shooting scene from ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ where Luke and Han fend off a chase group of Tie Fighters.
I loved the lady out of the Moon Base, which held a little bit of a resemblance to moon base alpha from the classic ‘Space 1999’ series.
Over all I really liked this episode and it was even better because there didn’t seem to be a commercial break splitting it up.
