It appears that Warner Bros have now confirmed at least one of the seven additional DC movies that they are set to announce.
For awhile now it has been rumored that former ‘Game Of Thrones’ and ‘Conan The Barbarian’ actor Jason Momoa would be guesting as Aquaman in the forthcoming ‘Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice,’ but that’s not all that we will see of ‘Aquaman.’
In an unusual move Warner Bros have hired two writers to pen two separate scripts for an ‘Aquaman’ movie.
According to Hollywood Reporter Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad have been brought in by Warner to write a script each for the proposed feature film. The best of the two scripts will be the one that Warner will then have made.
It’s an unusual move and not a bad idea given that each writer will have to bring their best scripts in order to help Warner bring about the best ‘Aquaman’ film ever.
The assumption is that the aquatic superhero movie will be one of the nine untitled projects that have been announced to be released between now and 2020, but obviously we don’t know where it will fit in at this point. The three earliest dates following ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s’ release in March 2016 are August 5, 2016, June 23, 2017, and November 17, 2017.
In regards to a solo movie. It makes sense for Warner to want to make one with the character of Aquaman. He is after all one of the best known members of the classic Justice League line-up. So it makes sense to give audiences the chance to get to know him a little better, but outside of the Justice League format.
As to how good it will be. We’ll have to wait and see, but as a casual comics fan. I’m curious to see how it works out.
