Universal Finds Writer For Boom’s ‘Vampire Tale ‘Day Men’

Boom! Studios' Ross Richie and Stephen Christy are producing

The partnership between comics publisher Boom! and Universal Studios continues and one of the next projects on the table is a movie adaptation of their vampire comic ‘Day Men.’

Universal have found a writer for this vampire story in the form of Will Simmons, who is best known for his work on ‘Black List.’

Producing the film are Boom! Studios boss Ross Richie and Stephen Christy.

‘Day Men’ is not your typical vampire story. Instead of focusing on the vampires the story centres on the humans who protect and take care of the affairs of vampires as they sleep during the day. The story also takes things a step further by separating vampires into Mafia-like families who quietly vie for control over territories. The story focuses on one Day Man who finds himself a key player when war breaking between the families.

Boom! editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon created the comic and co-wrote the comic with Michael Alan Nelson. Brian Stelfreeze illustrates the series.

Universal picked up the film rights for ‘Day Men’ in the summer of 2013 shortly after it premiered ‘2 Guns,’ which was also based on one of Boom! Studios most popular original comic book titles.
