The planned reboot of the classic ‘Six Million Dollar Man’ series, which has been adjusted for inflation to Six Billion Dollars is moving forward with Mark Wahlberg to star as Astronaut Steve Austin.

The movie will once again focus on Test Pilot and Astronaut Steve Austin, who after a tragic plane crash is left with no legs one arm and one eye. However all of these body parts are replaced by cybernetic limbs, which make him faster and physically more superior than he was before.

“The themes surrounding this beloved property allow for the creation of a memorable sci-fi actioner as well as a bold spy thriller,” said director Damián Szifron in a statement. “Expectations are high and I’ll do my best to deliver the strongest basis for an amazing cinematic experience.”

Szifron is an Argentinean filmmaker who wrote and directed last year’s ‘Wild Tales,’ an anthology that told six  stories. It received a best foreign-language film Oscar nomination and swept Argentina’s version of the Academy Awards, getting itself 10 wins out of 21 total nominations.

The original ‘Six Million Dollar Man’ series on which this new movie will be based on starred Lee Majors in the title role and had a successful run of five seasons. The original series, which was loosely adapted from Martin Caidin’s novel ‘Cyborg’ had a successful spin-off series in the form of ‘The Bionic Woman,’ which starred Lyndsay Wagner.

‘The Bionic Woman’ was remade a few years ago as a short lived one season TV show, which was generally butchered by critics and fans alike.
