These last couple of weeks has seen the release of this years, Emmy Nominations and quite a few genre series have made the grade. Among them include the cancelled ‘Lovecraft Country’, which gave us an alternative take on HP Lovecraft’s various creations. With mainly a cast of Black actors and characters. The show gave viewers a look at the black experience in 1950s America in the southern states where racism and segregation were rife. The show, which was sadly cancelled has been nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. Additionally, Jonathan Majors and Jurnee Smollett have been nominated for Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Actress, which is much-deserved recognition of the great work they did on the show.

Indeed, Marvell and Disney Plus has also done well with a number of their shows getting Emmy Nods. These include WandaVision in the Outstanding Limited Series category. Additionally, Elizabeth Olsen is nominated in the Outstanding lead actress in a limited series or TV movie category. Likewise, her co-star Paul Bettany also received a nomination for Outstanding lead actor in a limited series or TV movie.

The Emmy’s will be under guard to prevent this little tyke from eating them.

However, it is the Outstanding Drama Series category in which we see quite a few genre shows getting recognition with shows such as, The Boys, The Handmaid’s Tale, Lovecraft Country, and The Mandalorian all getting recognition.

Also worth noting is that Cobra Kai also got a nod for Outstanding Comedy Series.
