Quantum Leap Continuation Finds Its New Leaper

Raymond Lee to take on the lead role in the new Quantum Leap series.

Late yesterday the news broke that Raymond Lee who is best known for his part in ‘Kevin Can F**k Himself’ is to play the lead role in the new Quantum Leap series. The series, which has been called Project Quantum Leap is to air on NBC’s Peacock Streaming Service, but to date, only a pilot episode has been ordered.

Lee will play the role of  Dr. Ben Seong, a spiritual successor to Scott Bakula’s Dr. Sam Beckett. Of course like his predecessor. Ben is an absolute genius and a world-renowned physicist working on time-travel for Project Quantum Leap. The mission of this new project is to figure out what happened to Sam Beckett and uncover some of the mysteries surrounding his journies through time.

As we and a number of sites previously reported. Series creator Don Bellisario is very much involved in this new production, which will be a continuation of the story that he started over 30 years ago. But with a set of new characters who are looking to figure out what happened to Sam after we last saw him. Deborah Pratt, who co-wrote, co-produced and narrated the introduction of the Original Quantum Leap is also returning. Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (God Friended Me) will write and exec-produce the new take, while Martin Gero (Blindspot) will also serve as an Executive Producer. As of writing, there is still no word on whether or not Scott Bakula will be returning.

The original series aired between 1989 and 1993 on NBC and follows the adventures of physicist Sam Beckett who traveled through time by leaping his consciousness into the bodies of other people. His missions would generally be to correct something that went wrong in their lives, which would have wider consequences on history. He was joined on his adventures by Al who appeared to Sam as a hologram and helped him by giving him information about what happened so he could better understand what he had to do.

Whatever happens with this new show. We here at SciFiPulse are looking forward to it and hope that it is a success. In the meantime. Fans of the original series might want to check out some of our ideas for what a reboot, remake, or re-imagining might look like in our very well received  Re-launch, Reboot, or Re-imagine article on Quantum Leap. Where we pitched some pretty interesting ideas. Maybe Mr. Bellisario will look us up. We can but hope:)
