Acclaimed British star Joely Richardson has been added to the cast of new NBC ‘Wizard Of Oz’ inspired series ‘Emerald City’.
Richardson will play the Good Witch Glinda.
She will be joining Vincent D’Onofrio, who signed up last month to play the mysterious wizard of oz.
This marks Joely Richardson’s first television work since having worked on such hits as Showtime’s ‘The Tudors’ and FX’s ‘Nip/Tuck’. Her feature roles include ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and’ The Affair of the Necklace’.
‘Emerald City’ stars newcomer Adria Ajorna as Dorothy Gale, the 20-year-old who is swept up by a tornado and transported to the mythical Oz.
Additional cast members include Ana Ularu (who plays the Wicked Witch), as well as Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Jordan Loughran, Gerran Howell and Mido Hamada.
‘Emerald City’ is being produced and written by David Schulner, Shaun Cassidy and Matt Arnold. The show is being produced as a limited 10 episode series by NBC and Universal Television.
