Los Angeles – Up-and-coming writer and director Keiko Sugihara’s latest project is a short film starring Miki Ishikawa, who was most recently seen in Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Titled One Thousand Cuts, it is a horror short about a young Asian American woman named Ami. Working in a corporate office, Ami discovers mysterious cuts on her body after experiencing microaggressions. Though Ami continues working, she soon realizes something sinister maybe the causes of these wounds.

Partially inspired by the phrase, “Death by a thousand cuts,” Sugihara was motivated to craft this tale after experiencing repeated microaggressions. One Thousand Cuts is additionally and tragically driven by the rise of Asian hate and Anti-Asian violence.
