“Silver Service” celebrates the wonderful Alfred Pennyworth. The iconic character is much more than a butler. Currently, Alfred is back on the big screen. You can read about the Andy Serkis portryal of the character in our review of The Batman (2022). This tribute isn’t just to one “Alfred” actor. We do though pay homage to Michael Caine, who for many gives the definitive depictions of Alfred . . .
So fatherly, although he’s not,
The guardian of Master Wayne;
the only family Batman’s got,
perhaps the best was Michael Caine? . . .
The family butler, but much more,
custodian and loyal friend
who never once stops making sure
that Bruce Wayne’s well-being won’t end
He knows Batmsn’s identity,
and who resides beneath the mask
An unending sense of duty
means he’s always up to the task
When called upon he’s always there,
and seens to know just what to do;
Wayne Manor’s always in his care,
and so’s the Batcave’s gadgets too
Called Pennyworth, but worth much more
The silver service Alfred brings,,
there’s really no accounting for —
he’s wiser than biblical kings!
