Sherlock Holmes

This week SciFiPulse published Sherlock Holmes: Past, Present, Future. With that in mind May The Verse Be With You felt it was time to pay homage to the great consulting detective. This piece is from the perspective of Sherlock, and based on the BBC’s Sherlock incarnation of the character, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. So, time for a glimpse inside his legendary mind palace, then . . .

Afoot

I smell a lie,

I know my gut

and inner eye —

the game’s afoot

I must find John,

get this case shut;

it can’t go on,

the game’s afoot

The facts are there,

but not clear cut;

no time to spare –

the game’s afoot . . .

Mycroft’s/Lestrade’s

method’s kaput,

they’re off my yards,

the game’s afoot!

Those silly men,

all if, all but,

they don’t see when

the game’s afoot!
