As has been widely reported Sony is doing a film based on the popular 80s animated series ‘Robotech’, which is to be produced by Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton.
The latest reports have revealed that Sony is holding talks with James Wan with a view to him taking on the directing duties on the movie.
The film is based on the 1980s cartoon series from Harmony Gold USA and Japan’s Tatsunoko Productions. It was re-edited and re-dialogued to combine three Japanese anime series to give the producers enough episodes to air as a daily syndicated series.
These talks with Sony are the latest deal with Wan and underscore how much in demand he has become since he knocked it out the park with Furious 7, which has zoomed past $1.3 billion dollars.
The filmmaker also has the offer and is in talks to direct ‘Aquaman’ for Warners. Universal, meanwhile, wants him for ‘Fast & Furious 8’.
