Synopsis: The Dead Boy Detectives learn that finding the dame doesn’t always mean closing the case when it turns out their new Thai ghost friends seem to be caught in the crosshairs of some dangerous enemies. Thankfully, the best thing about being a dead boy detective is that it’s not like you can die again…right?

The Story

After the murder of Dom who was helping them with the Thai Ghosts. Edwin and Charles begin to investigate Dom’s notes and learn that there is an Amulet that can potentially help them contact Dom’s ghost for help in tracking what it is that has been murdering people. While Edwin stays with Tanya and keeps an eye on the Thai Ghosts. Charles heads off with Jai to try and find some clues about the black magic that Dom was looking into.

Artwork

The art team does a brilliant job on this issue. We get some great cover art from Nimit Malavia and interior art from  Jeff Stokely, Craig A. Taillefer, and Miquel Muerto is brilliantly done and manages to convey a unique and spooky atmosphere for the book. The discussion between Charles and Edwin late on in the book is particularly well drawn. Especially when it comes to the facial expressions of the characters as they debate whether or not they should be helping the Thai Ghosts or not.

Overall

This does a great job of carrying on the story from the previous issue as we see Edwin and Charles start to get to know the Thai Ghosts a little more. I particularly liked how Charles is developing feelings for Tanya as it shows that even a Dead Boy detective can have a heart.

We get some great artwork throughout with some really nice sequences. I particularly enjoyed the panels where Charles was walking Jai through an area of LA that had a lot of ghosts who were desperate for someone to talk with.

Overall a solid second issue that sets a few things up for the third and final issue, which will hit next month.
