Synopsis: In ‘The Art of Conveyance and Round-Trippery’. Reynie and Sticky investigate secret transmissions. Constance and Kate explore the island.

The Story

Picking the story up from where last week left off. Reynie and Sticky have attained the status of messenger and are about to learn what this means. Furthermore, the girls also have some exploring to do and uncover what is in the secret passage that we saw Dr. Curtain use last week.

Meanwhile, Reynie and Sticky learn the disturbing truth that as messengers they are contributing to the subliminal messages that make up The Emergency.

Elsewhere, Mr. Benedict gets a visit from Reynies old school teacher who is not happy with how he has been using the children for a spying mission.

The Acting

Once again Tony Hale absolutely kills it as both Mr. Benedict and Dr. Curtain. The scenes where Dr. Curtain is with his Number 2 who runs all of his scientific experiments was really chilling. You get a sense of how manipulative and how much in control Dr. Curtain is. It is also strongly hinted that Dr. Curtain’s number 2 is being controlled by him somehow. Likewise, Mr. Benedicts scenes with Reynie’s old teacher were also fun to watch.

Mystic Inscho and Seth Carr do very well this week with the difficult job of convincing us that they are in a trance-like state. When they are sent up to the tower they find themselves being used by Dr. Curtain’s invention The Whisperer to send out subliminal messages that are helping create the Emergency.

Meanwhile, Emmy DeOliveira and Marta Kessler get the action and adventure component of this week’s episode as they find out what is inside Dr. Curtain’s secret lair.

Overall

‘The Art of Conveyance and Round-Trippery’ brings everything that the last few weeks has been building together. We finally know what is causing the voices in Constance’s head. We also know what the Messengers do. But what we don’t know is what Dr. Curtain’s motivations are beyond simply wanting to control the masses with one message.

Overall. A fun episode.
